AI Engineer

Design, build and deploy AI-powered software that automates or redesigns how our clients work, from agentic workflows to entirely new applications.

About the role

The work spans software engineering, AI system design and technical implementation.

On implementation projects, you design, build and deploy AI-powered software that automates or redesigns a client's processes. You'll work on a range of systems, from agentic workflows and document intelligence to enterprise search and entirely new applications.

You'll also work directly with clients to understand their businesses, challenge existing workflows and help design solutions that fit their needs. Our projects vary significantly, so you'll regularly encounter unfamiliar industries, technologies and technical challenges.

You will take ownership of technical implementations early on, from architecture decisions to production deployment. You'll have considerable freedom in how you approach problems and will often need to figure things out independently, with the team there to support you when needed.

What we look for

  • You learn quickly. You are curious about how things work, whether it's a new technology or a client's business. You can teach yourself what you need to know, independently and at a fast pace. This is one of the things we value most.

  • You think critically. You gather information, challenge assumptions and make well-reasoned decisions, even when you don't have the full picture.

  • You take ownership. You are comfortable making decisions, taking responsibility and seeing technical projects through from start to finish.

  • You can build. You have a strong software engineering foundation and can independently build reliable, production-ready software. Experience delivering full-stack projects end-to-end is a strong advantage.

  • You are passionate about technology. You actively follow developments in AI and other emerging technologies, experiment with new tools and enjoy tackling unfamiliar technical challenges.

  • You communicate well. You explain your thinking clearly, work confidently with clients and enjoy collaborating with others.

What you'll get

You'll work directly with the founders and a small team on projects for clients across different industries. You'll have significant freedom and responsibility from early on, and you'll see the solutions you help develop being used in practice.

You'll learn about new technologies and businesses, take on increasingly complex projects and help shape Arcas as we grow.

If that sounds like the kind of environment you'd enjoy, we'd love to hear from you.
