Explainability by design: AI your auditors can live with
In regulated environments, "the model said so" is not an acceptable answer. Critical workflows need more than plausible outputs, they need traceability.
Explainability by design means the system shows which sources, data points and workflow steps influenced an answer, where confidence is high or low, and where human review is required before action is taken.
This is not a feature you bolt on at the end. Grounding, citation and confidence signals shape the data architecture, the retrieval design and the user interface from day one.
Done right, explainability turns AI from a black box into a governed system that compliance teams can sign off on, and that users actually trust.
